ChatGPT Plus is sold by OpenAI for card payments, or through Apple and Google when you subscribe in the mobile app. There is no “pay with crypto” button anywhere in its checkout. Why OpenAI doesn’t take crypto
OpenAI bills subscriptions through a card checkout: a Visa, Mastercard or similar card on chatgpt.com, or your App Store or Google Play account in the apps. A crypto payment can’t be pulled from your wallet every month like a card, so it doesn’t fit a subscription that renews on its own. Every crypto option below either turns your crypto into a card payment, or replaces the subscription with a one-off purchase.
1. A card topped up with crypto
Several services issue a virtual Visa or Mastercard that you top up with USDT, Bitcoin or other coins. You then subscribe on chatgpt.com with that card, like with any other card.
- What you keep: your own ChatGPT account and its history.
- What it costs: the card’s issuing and top-up fees on top of OpenAI’s price, and usually a minimum top-up.
- What to expect: many issuers ask for an ID check beyond small amounts, some prepaid card ranges are declined by OpenAI’s checkout, and the plan renews every month, so the card must stay funded.
2. An app store gift card bought with crypto
Some shops sell App Store or Google Play gift cards for crypto. You add the balance to your app store account, then upgrade to ChatGPT Plus from the mobile app.
- What you keep: your own account, billed through your app store.
- What to check: the gift card’s region must match your app store account’s country, and the balance must cover each renewal, or the plan stops.
3. A ready account, paid in crypto
The third way skips the card entirely: a reseller creates a new ChatGPT account, activates the plan, and you pay the reseller in crypto. That is what we do.
- What you get: a new OpenAI account with Plus (or Pro) active for one month, plus the login of the email address it was created with.
- What you don’t need: a card, a bank account or an ID check. Nothing renews on its own.
